„Umbruch“ ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem dramatischen Wandel der Wälder in Osttirol hervorrgerufen durch extreme Wetterereignisse und deren Folgen. Das Projekt dokumentiert die verheerenden Sturmschäden von Vaia (2018), Ingmar (2019) und Virpy (2020) sowie die daraus resultierende Borkenkäferplage, welche die Bergwälder Osttirols weiter dezimierte.
Neben der ökologischen Dimension thematisiert das Werk auch die emotionale Verbindung des Autors zur Natur und die Herausforderungen der Zukunft. Mit seiner Fotografie versucht er, den tiefgreifenden Wandel visuell festzuhalten und zugleich einen bewussteren Blick auf den Wert und die Fragilität unserer Umwelt zu lenken.
Zum Projekt erschienen ist ein 40 seitiges Zine in Deutsch und Englisch welches im Online Shop bestellt werden kann.
Gedruckt auf hochwertigem Fine Art Papier wird die Dimension der Veränderung sprichwörtlich greifbar.

"Change" is an exploration of the dramatic transformation of the forests in East Tyrol, driven by extreme weather events and their aftermath. The project documents the devastating storm damage caused by Vaia (2018), Ingmar (2019), and Virpy (2020), as well as the resulting bark beetle infestation, which further decimated the mountain forests of East Tyrol.
Beyond its ecological dimension, the work also reflects on the author's emotional connection to nature and the challenges of the future. Through his photography, he seeks to visually capture this profound change while encouraging a more conscious appreciation of the value and fragility of our environment.
A 40-page zine in German and English has been published as part of the project and is available for purchase in the online shop.
Printed on high-quality Fine Art paper, the scale of transformation becomes literally tangible.

Das Zine ist super aufgebaut, nicht zu viel Text und mir gefallen vor allem die Zitate und Bilder dazu. Cover hat ein mega Papier und die Dankeskarte mit Stanzung TOP! Viele kleine Details, gratuliere!

Altough opted for the pdf version (due to overseas shipping might be too much of a hassle), the paper version does look especially gorgeous. The zine is beautfully done — very cohesive visually and a sad but very interesting storyline. I didn`t had any trouble downlaoding and it was very easy to get the file as soon as the order was complete. Huge congratulations on this project.

Umbruch - das neue Werk von Daniel Egger - eine künstlerische Aufarbeitung der Waldschäden in Osttirol. Mit seinen Worten und Bildern bringt Daniel zum Ausdruck was uns allen in der Seele schmerzt, der Umbruch unseres Waldes. Ein gelungenes Werk!

Das Zine geht zu Herzen. Erschütternd wie schnell sich die Natur um uns herum so grundlegend ändern kann. Als vielfacher Besucher Osttirols kannte ich noch den intakten Wald. Die Geschichte geht zu Herzen und hat mich tief berührt. Sowohl Text als auch Fotos sind sehr ausdrucksstark. Ich wünsche dir, dass viele weitere Personen dein Projekt unterstützen. Es lohnt sich wirklich. Und ich wünsche uns allen, dass dein Wunsch “dass in den kommenden Jahrzehnten ein neuer klimafitter Wald entsteht” Wirklichkeit wird.

I absolutely love it. The writing is both informative and full of personal depth and the photographs suit it so well. I particularly like the photos where the cracks and the bark texture seamless merge with one another.
